So, those who know me know I have been addicted to Skyrim of late. I have this friend who has been doing this gamer charity thing for several years, and this time she convinced me to join her team as well. Basically it all surrounds an event in the fall that’s something of a 24-hour gaming marathon, but donations can happen all year long up to the event, and everyone sort of handles that in their own way.

In my case I probably won’t be doing a full 24 hour session (I could have pulled it off in college but I don’t have the energy for that now) but I may at least pull a game-till-I-drop day, and will probably set up a blog in the meantime to use as an incentive platform with random Skyrim-related shenanigans (possibly with the occasional Dragon Age thrown in).

So what is Extra Life?

In their own words:

Extra Life is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising program within the gaming community. Participants fundraise year-round and pledge to game for 24 hours with one goal: to save and improve the lives of sick and injured kids. Funds raised stay local to help pediatric patients at 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $30 million for member hospitals. The movement, formed by gamers bonded by passion, is committed to saving and improving the lives of local kids.
